A few weeks ago I shared my new bag purchase: the Lorette by Germaine Guerin. I’ve been wearing it non-stop since and thought I’d write a review in case anyone else has been curious.
The unboxing was a nice surprise: the bag came carefully wrapped in a green box, tons of silk paper and a simple cotton dust bag. There was even a little handwritten note inside that said “welcome to Germaine Guerin” which made the whole experience feel really thoughtful and personal.
As for the bag itself, the craftsmanship is really impressive. The leather feels very natural and you can tell it’s going to age beautifully. It’s made in France and honestly the quality feels just as good as some of the big name brands I own.
In terms of practicality, it fits all my daily essentials (phone (not on the picture for obvious reasons), long wallet, earphones, card holder, makeup...) without looking bulky. There isn’t a formal closure, which I thought would bother me, but when the bag is on the shoulder or crossbody it naturally closes and keeps everything secure. It actually makes it easier to use because you’re not fussing with zippers or clasps.
I do wish the strap was adjustable, that would’ve made it a little more versatile, but I’ve been using the ribbon trick (same as for Chanel bags) and it works fine.
My only real “pity” is that they’re only available online for now. I think a lot of people would appreciate being able to see and try them in person before buying.
Overall, I’m really happy with it. Simple style, nice finishes, good leather, and solid craftsmanship: exactly what I’m always looking for in everything I buy! I think it’s one of those bags that will only get more beautiful the more it’s worn. I’ll keep you posted in a few weeks to share how it ages, because I always feel like that’s the real test.
